My, what big eyes you have
My, what big eyes you have
Bullet-shaped lures take large numbers of game fish, but they are used primarily for targeting tuna. Tunas eat a lot of squid, so any small lure zipping through the water in a straight line makes an easy, attractive target for feeding fish. Braid's new Big Eye Rocket moves through the water with barely a ripple, leaving a thin, telltale bubble trail to help tuna or other game fish find the prize.
The Big Eye Rocket comes in two sizes: 9 inches with a 3Ú4-inch diameter and 11 inches with a 1-inch diameter. Braid says that you can troll both lures at 6 to 12 knots, and the weighted heads should keep the lures from tumbling at the upper end of that range. Bullet-shaped lures track incredibly straight just under the surface, mimicking a fleeing baitfish, and prove irresistible when pulled way back down the center.
True to their name, Big Eye Rockets feature a large reflective eye, as well as a shiny metallic scale pattern, to help attract attention from a long way off.
